Bill Gates who had taken up to fulltime work in the Melinda Gates Founation set up jointly by him and his wife has set apart 3.8 Billion Dollars for spending in Healthcare and Education during 2009.
He has given an overview of the progress of the Foundation, its goals and challenges in a ten page letter posted online. In this report, he has reiterated his love of work with the Foundation and has added that in philonthropic work, it is the same common sense of the business that applies. The Foundation had spent 3.3 Billion Dollars in 2008.
The allocation for 2009 reinforces his belief that the wealthy have a responisibity to invest in addressing inequity.
