Jammu,August 6(Scoop News) -The Jammu and Kashmir Housing and Urban development t Department today surpassed yet another milestone towards e-governance with the launch of online registration of vital statistics of birth and deaths. Henceforth, the Birth and Death Registration has been fully operationalised through the information technology mode.
The Department also made a vast stride in streamlining the building permission system by bringing this also under the purview of e-governance, thereby moving miles ahead from the single window system that was put in place earlier to check red-tapism. The online and systematic operationalization of building permission has totally eased the cumbersome procedure of seeking No-objection certification from various authorities and departments much to the respite of the citizens, who have continued to allege their grievances on this part. The launch was marked with grant of building permission to five applicants under this system. The applicants can seek online registration by logging on to www.jkhudd.gov.in.
Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department Suresh Kumar, who formally launched the online facilitation of vital statistics and building permission here this evening said that bringing registration of births and deaths under the e-governance shall be supplemented with creation of data-base of the new births and deaths apart from storage of the earlier data of these vital statistics in easy and assessable mode. " At a mere pressing of new keys on the key-board or with a touch of the fingers the data can be assessed, stored and saved", said Sharma adding that the record tampering is virtually impossible under the soft-ware developed by the National Informatics Centre.
Mr Sharma said bringing the Housing and Urban Development Department which is mandated to frame policies, prepare plans and schemes for growth of urban areas under the e-governance shall invariably strengthen urban local self governing units thereby enabling them in speedier, swift and correct discharge of their functions particularly in terms of providing quality municipal services to the people.
Director Health Services Jammu Dr. Madhu Khullar, Principal Government Medical College Aniece Chowdhary, VC JDA Sarita Chouhan, Commissioner JMC K. L. Khajuria, Joint Commissioner Jammu Babu Ram, besides Medical Record Officers/ Superintendent of different Government and Private Hospitals operating within the limits of JMC were also present at the launch ceremony.
Dwelling about the user-friendly software of the online registration mode, Senior Scientists of the National Informatics Centre gave a detailed presentation about the various facilities under the scanner of the simplest procedure of e-governance. They also informed the gathering present at the launch ceremony about the huge repository that could be created and stored in just minimal space. " It is really wondrous to store such huge and old record of thousands and thousands of people in a advanced machine, which could be of immense importance for the social scientists engaged in population studies discipline and anthropological studies".
The Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department directed the Medical Record Officer to extend full cooperation in implementation of e-governance in the larger interest of public.
The Director Health Services and the Principal GMC too assured that necessary directions shall be issued to the concerned and full cooperation will be extension to the registration of deaths and births.
