Kargil/Jammu, August 02 (Scoop News)-BJP State President Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament & J&K Prabhari Avinash Rai Khanna, State General Secretary Rajiv Jasrotia, Senior leader from Kashmir Sofi Yousuf, State Secretary Munish Sharma and District President Haji Khuddam accompanied the party candidates for filing their nomination papers at Kargil for Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council—Kargil (LAHDC-Kargil) elections to be held on August 22.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, at the time of filling papers by the candidates, told the media that BJP has decided to contest 12 seats and support like minded candidates at three other seats in Kargil and we hope that BJP will emerge as a strong group in the Kargil council. He said that the BJP has all along stood with the people of Ladakh region and our commitment for preservation of their centuries old culture, language and identity is very clear. He said that the nationalist people of Kargil have tested time and again the parties like Congress and NC and the time has come when they should give a change to BJP. He expressed hope that the people will support BJP candidates overwhelmingly.
Avinash Rai Khanna, while speaking on the occasion, said that the party is well aware of the problems of Kargil people and has been consistently raising the issues of good road and air connectivity, round the year operation of Zojila tunnel and adequate provision of funds for development. He said that the party activists have to take these issues to the public and seek their votes for party. He said the BJP has already taken up at the national level their genuine demands regarding airport and all weather connectivity Srinagar, concession in air fair and setting up of examination centre for civil services at Leh.
These leaders, who are camping in Kargil for the forthcoming elections of the LAHDC-Kargil, also held separate meetings of district office bearers, members of core group and the party candidates to seek their views about the ground situation, discuss and evolve a strategy aimed at effective campaigning and victory of the party candidates.
