After securing its stunning victory in Gujarat under the leadership of Narendra Modi, BJP was voted to power in another state in North India,i.e in the Himachala Pradesh, the election campaign spearheaded by the Chief Minister- designate Prem Kumar Dhuma.
Out of the 68 assembly seats, BJP secured 41 seats, just short of a two-third majority, the Congress I, 23 seats ,BSP 1 seat and the independants 3 seats.
The BJP’s performance in the election was creditable and gainful, taking advantage of the anti-incumbancy wave prevailed against the out-going chiefminister Virbadhra Singh, corruption, rank inefficiency etc, and they were the root causes for the defeat of the Congress I, in the Himachala Pradesh.
Virbadhra Singh won his seat by over 14,000 margin of votes, whereas many of his colleagues faring badly in the assembly election.BJP leader Prem Kumar Dhuma won his assembly seat by a margin of over 26,000 votes, really an impressive performance.
Virbadhra Singh conceded defeat and openly proclaimed that he would sit in the opposition bench as a responsible opposite party.BJP considered it as an remarkable win and a rehearsal for the forthcoming parliamentary election in the year 2009.Whether we like it or not BJP is rising in power and image as a political party, through its skillful leadership, effective organisational skills and manoevirng in the elections.
Congress I and its allies of UPA, are introspecting and analysing to safeguard their power at the centre and to win the forthcoming assembly elections in the year 2008, in Delhi,Rajasthan,Madhyapradesh and Karnataka etc.
