BJP demandes appointment of a Commission to equire the current turmoil in Kashmir

Jammu, October 02 (Scoop News) – The BJP has demanded appointment of a Commission headed by a Supreme Court Judge to equire and pin point the responsibility for the current turmoil in the valley of Kashmir and removal of the present coalition led by Omar Abdullah, which has failed to perform and fulfill the legal and constitutional  obligations to protect the life and property as also to check the secessionist and anti-national activities.

Commenting upon a written answer provided to him in reply to his question in the State Assembly, the leader of the Legislators Party Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta said that an attempt is being made to shift the blame against the security forces as in the reply it has been stated that Kashmir valley has witnessed a cycle of violence instigated by the separatists over the alleged human rights violations with specific reference to the death of three persons, who were allegedly killed in a fake encounter at Machhil, Kupwara in April last.

Subsequently, the secessionist movement has been launched and violent protests across the Kashmir valley continued resulting in civilian causalities during the engagement between the protesters and security forces flared up the situation.

Prof. Gupta alleged that in this answer quite confusing and contradictory figures have been provided as on October 01, 2010, in the reply the death toll of the civilians  till September 21, was put at 98, whereas a day earlier the Chief Minister had put this toll at 109. So is the case of misleading information regarding other losses and damages. Little mention has been made about the damages caused to the Jammu truckers and other vehicles especially the oil tankers, which have been under attack repeatedly despite security promises by the CM and others.

Prof. Gupta said that whatever list about damages has been provided in the said answer speaks about colossal damages in addition to injuries to 537 civilians, 1274 CRPF 2747 police personnel.

Taking into account all the losses, it appears that the turmoil of past over 100 days has caused far greater harm than that of last over ten years by the armed militancy still there appear no end to the on going trouble but for confusion in the dispensation not in the state but also even at the Congress led government at the Centre.

He said that to cover up their own failures and incapabilities, some strange postures are being adopted, so much so, the moves are afoot to demoralize the forces by creating hype over curtailment of their powers and lowering of the guards by reducing the number of bunkers and those of the troops etc. In other words under various communal and other considerations the those very weapons are being mysteriously blunt with which the insurgency and cross border terror could dealt with effectively.

Prof. Gupta further said that as far as Pakistan is concerned, it was never friendly and rather it had come into being on bases of hate India and had always been working under designs to harm and bleed India.

The proxy war launched from across the border still continues unabated but with some change in its strategy of stone pelting by involving more people and resorting to mob-terrorism to make the nationalists and silent large population as their hostages.

Prof. Gupta maintained the current turmoil was the result of little governance and failure of the coalition on various fronts because of their communal mindset and dubious approach to tackle the serious situation.

Hence, the BJP leader observed, this ineffective and confused coalition must go and to find out the causes of real trouble and problems in Kashmir, a commission of enquiry must be appointed to go deep into the root cause and find remedy.
