BJP demands resignations of Jammu based Congress ministers

Jammu, February 21 (Scoop News) –     BJP has demanded resignations of Jammu based Congress ministers, including Dy. Chief Minister Tara Chand, for their total surrender before the Kashmir-centric coalition government on the issue of discrimination while increasing the number of Urban Local Bodies as well as wards on the eve of forthcoming Municipal elections. This was stated by BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas while addressing press conference at party hqrs on Tuesday.

Manhas was flanked by National Executive Member & Chief Spokesperson Dr. Jitendra Singh, State General Secretary Sat Sharma (C.A) and Jammu Mahanagar District President Rajesh Gupta.

Manhas said that the Congress has now been totally exposed as it has adopted a total silence over the issue of making increase in the number of Urban Local Bodies by 12 for Kashmir and just 4 for Jammu. Not only this, the number of wards of Srinagar Municipal Corporation in valley too have been increased by 10 from 65 to 75, while the number of wards remain unchanged at 71.

Manhas said that this whole exercise has been done with just one motive to ensure hegemony of Kashmir over Jammu and making available more and more funds for the valley as compared to already neglected and discriminated Jammu. He said that while the state’s coalition has ministers from the National Conference, the Congress too has its share in the cabinet and any decision taken by the cabinet is the unanimous choice of both the coalition partners. It can be understood that the NC has compulsions as Kashmir is its core constituency but one fails to understand why the Jammu based Congress ministers have compromised on the interests of Jammu and Jammuites, who returned them to state assembly with high hopes.

Declaring to hold massive protests against anti-Jammu decision as well as anti Jammu approach of the Congress, Manhas said that the party will also make common masses aware of the injustice being done to Jammu by the coalition government with full backing of the Congress despite the fact that Jammu has more area, more difficult terrain as compared with the Kashmir.
