Srinagar,April 9, (Scoop News)-Terming the BJP manifesto as a challenge to the secular democratic fabric, CPI (M) State Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami and PDF Chairman Hakim Mohammad Yasin have described BJP’s intention of abrogation of Article 370 as unwarranted and unacceptable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a joint statement issued here today while referring to BJP as a party which has never subscribed to the concept of state’s autonomy the two leaders have said that BJP manifesto makes it amply clear that if it comes to power the secular fabric will definitely be destroyed.
In the case of Jammu & Kashmir, Article 370 has a specific background. J&K has a special status given the circumstances of the accession of the state to the Indian union. It is the fact that over the years, governments at the Centre have eroded and whittled away the scope and content of Article 370, the two leaders remarked.
“It is our unalterable opinion that Article 370 of the constitution should act as a bridge between the Union and the State and the provisions which have been eroded from time to time should be restored without any delay” the two leaders stressed and said that BJP has always been viewed as sharpening the communal polarization, but it would never succeed in dividing the people on the basis of regional or communal calls.
