Jammu, May 14 (Scoop News)-Stating that the present dispensation has the mandate for holistic development, good governance and stability, Minister for Transport Abdul Ghani Kohli Thursday said the PDP-BJP coalition would script a new era of progress and prosperity in the state.
“Endeavour of the government is to create favorable atmosphere for all segments of the society irrespective of their caste, creed or colour to enable them get equal opportunities of growth and development”, asserted the Minister while addressing a mammoth gathering at Dak Bungalow, Surankote.
Urging the people to become active partners in JK’s social, economic, political and cultural development, the Minister said that coordinated effort is vital to achieving the targeted goals of development. He asked the people to extend complete cooperation to the administration to draw optimum results out of the government’s welfare schemes as they are the ultimate beneficiaries of all the development programmes. “It is our sincere effort to utilize and promote the state’s outstanding human resource to further boost to development process,” he maintained.
The Minister, while listing some reformative steps taken up by present coalition for emancipation of people, said the government’s motive is to make the results of all policies and schemes visible on ground. He said that during a very short span of time the government has brought much needed changes at certain levels to ensure prompt and easily accessible public delivery system to the people. This reflects the intention of the government of bringing in an apparent change in every parameter of development, he added.
Referring to the functioning of transport department, Kohli said that ensuring transparency and accountability in the system is the Government’s prime focus which is being pursued with all honesty and dedication. In this regard, the government is working on a comprehensive plan to further streamline the working of this vital unit of the government besides removing the existing flaws from the organization.
Earlier, the Minister also addressed a series of public meetings at Chandimarh, Baafliaz, Draba and adjoining areas where scores of people felicitated him and appreciated his efforts of reaching out to far-flung areas of the district. He had a detailed review of renovation works being done in flood affected areas. He directed the officers to further speed up the pace of work so that the people get the much needed succor.
Enroute, Kohli inspected the spots prone to landslides along Mughal road besides taking stock of present status of the historic road.
