Jammu & Kashmir, Oct 18: Despite support from Union Home Minister and Defense Minister for remark in Legislative Assembly over accession of J & K with India, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in no way seems to digest it. Ridiculing statement and emphasizing need of awareness to masses, BJP has decided to launch ‘Accession Day’ celebration programmes from Srinagar on October 20.
The programme is to be inaugurated by party’s National General Secretary and former Union Minister, Vijay Goel.
According to State President, Shamsher Singh Manhas Jammu and Kashmir acceded
to Indian Union on October 26, 1947 when Maharaja Hari Singh signed an Instrument of Accession like other princely states did. “It is due to the timely and wise decision of the then Maharaja that we are enjoying democracy. Hence, like other festivals, the Accession
Day is also a day to be celebrated with great pomp and show,” he said. He said that recent remarks of the Chief Minister over the issue of accession demand that Omar Abdullah should be sacked, because his continuance would only endanger the unity and integrity of the
state. Manhas said that BJP will be organizing programmes of awareness throughout the state with a motive to reach the masses and educate them about historical facts of accession and anti-national utterances by Chief Minister (CM).
“Programme will start from Srinagar on October 20, senior leaders from the centre as well as
State besides local general public will participate in large number. Leaders and activists would also participate in October 24programme to be held at Parade Ground being organised by a non-political organization,” he said.
He further informed “On October 26, BJP and Bhartiya Yuva Morcha activists
would organise programmes in each district throughout the state. This day will be celebrated like Diwali festival by illuminating buildings and firing of crackers etc. The party will organise more programmes at more than 200 places from October 27 to November 2.” He expressed resentment over appointment of interlocutors from outside the state saying that they lack basic knowledge about the men and maters and other aspects of Jammu and Kashmir.
