Essential commodities are becoming distant dream for
middleclass and poor on the one hand and on the other black-marketing and
smuggling have attained its peak. Vegetables, Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) and kerosene
oil is being black marketed at such a peak as it is difficult to survive by
commoners. Even milk vendors have become gods to people by selling milk as per
their wishes. In Jammu every milk vendor offers milk of more than five categories
including Rs 15/KG, Rs 20/KG, Rs 22/Kg, Rs 25/Kg and Rs 30/Kg, that too in open
containers. Meat and chicken vendors are authorized to change their rates as
per customers. In this bizarre situation government and concerned authorities
seems to have no time to check the menace.
