Blog Action Day! Celebrates the “Power Of We”

By Solana Larsen

Every year, bloggers around the world join forces and write about one topic, on one day, to reach a collective audience of millions. It’s Blog Action Day today (October 13, 2012) and this year bloggers around the world are reflecting on “The Power of We” [1] – when people get together to make the world a better place. To participate, you can register your own blog on Blog Action Day’s website [2]. They also have a liveblog [3] and a Tumblr blog [4] where they track all contributions. On Twitter, the hashtag to watch is #BAD12 [5].

On Global Voices, you’d think it was Blog Action Day every day, since we’re always sharing new information about online movements and brave people everywhere. We warmly support a day to reflect on “the power of we” and any initiative that shows how bloggers can make a difference together.

We’ll be updating this post throughout the day with links to all #BAD12 entries by Global Voices contributors.

Global Voices: Global Voices is a non-profit global citizens’ media project founded at Harvard Law School’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society, a research think-tank focused on the Internet’s impact on society. Global Voices seeks to aggregate, curate, and amplify the global conversation online - shining light on places and people other media often ignore. We work to develop tools, institutions and relationships that will help all voices, everywhere, to be heard.
