“A drop of blood can save lives!” a blood donation campaign slogan used by Al-Othman Agricultural Product and Procurement Company, organized by NADA Dairy in Al Hassa, during the launching of a 2-day blood donation drive conducted in Hofuf, Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with the King Fahd Hospital has been successfully launched.
During the first day of the campaign, employees were encouraged to participate in the community service and voluntarily donate blood to save lives of people, indeed, people they will never meet.
“It was a successful beginning of the campaign in its first day,” said Al-Otaibi, to note a remarkable achievement of the project drive by noting surprisingly 70 voluntary blood donors from residents and employees of the company, which included mammoth numbers of expatriates.
“We have targeted at least 300 blood donors until the end of campaign but it turned out to be more donors to reach 400 volunteers,” Al-Otaibi added.
It was hoped that the Blood Donation Campaign would create wider awareness of the importance of voluntary blood donation and encourage more people to become regular blood donors. "The purpose was not to attract an influx of new donors, but to infuse in the minds of people the importance of saving life," a Saudi volunteer said.
