Film producer Sajid Nadiadwala and his family were robbed at gunpoint by their security guard at their Versova residence on Friday.
Police said the guard, Prabhat Tripathi, 22, decamped with cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh.
According to the police, Sajid and his wife Wardha returned from a party, to their sixth floor residence at Ocean View building at around 3 am. Tripathi was seated in a passage near the flat’s entrance.
The Nadiadwalas own two flats on the sixth floor. While Wardha and Sajid reside in one, the other is occupied by his mother. "Wardha went to the other flat, where she had kept her five-month-old baby before going for the party," said senior inspector Suresh Nalavde.
"When returning, Tripathi held her at gunpoint and entered the house along with her. "A terrified Sajid told Tripathi to drop the gun. He, however, aimed it at Sajid and told him to hand in all the cash and jewellery," added Nalavde.
In the hour-long drama, the guard, hired about four months back from Tiger Security Agency, threatened to kill the couple.
The security agency is owned by Gurmeet Singh alias Shera, who provides security to several in the film fraternity. Singh earlier worked as Salman Khan’s bodyguard.
A friend of the couple said, "It was the most horrid one hour of their lives. He held Wardha at gunpoint, while Sajid tried to negotiate with him. Even though Sajid promised to give him whatever he wanted, he would not keep the gun down."
