The proposed Kannur airport in north Kerala will be developed on Build, Operate and Own (BOO) model with the state government holding 26 per cent stake in the venture.
The proposal in this regard was approved by the state Cabinet today, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan told reporters here.
The partner for building the Greenfield airport would be selected through transparent bidding, he said.
The Cabinet also gave its nod for setting up IT parks in Kollam, Alappuzha, Thrissur, Kannur and Kasargod districts.
The land required for locating the parks would be identified and handed over to state-run Kerala State IT Infrastructure Ltd (KSITIL) by Revenue Department. Each park would have 25 to 100 acres of land, he said.
The government had earlier announced its plan to develop IT parks in all districts as part of the strategy to make Kerala a major IT destination based on the hub-and-spoke model.
An Aqua Economic Park would be developed at Katungallur in Ernakulam district for breeding and marketing of a wide variety of decorative fish, he said
