Booni people set in protest against embezzlement in government departments.

CHITRAL: Resident of Booni some 75 KM from here set in as protest against embezzlement of millions of rupees in Communication and Works Department (C &W), Irrigation, Public Health Engineering and Sarhad Hydro Development Organization (SHYDO). Addressing to protest set in the speakers expressed their concern over about misappropriation of millions of rupees in these departments. They said that C&W department has shown Mastuj and Torkho road as black top in paper but the road is still in a very dilapidated condition having big ditches in its middle causing for road mishap. The said that irrigation channels have damaged and Irrigation department spent millions of rupees only in paper about completion of irrigation channel. People of Booni faced great loss since 2002 to 2008 due to damaging of that irrigation channel but they were not compensated. They said that a Truck able bridge has been started a few years back and the department has assured that it will be completed within 6 months but work goes very slow and it still incomplete. They said that some 7.5 million have been spent on water supply scheme in 1990 by Public Health Engineering department at Raeen village but there is no a singe pipe and people still searching for potable drinking water. They said that C&W department have hire land for road but nor they constructing road neither they allow the people to cultivate it without any compensation. They also lamented poor performance of SHYDO department that a large number of people still deprived from electricity.
They demanded from the provincial government to conduct an inquiry against embezzlement and corruption of these departments and to bound them to complete developmental works at Sub Division Mastuj otherwise they will came on roads with aggressive protest against these departments. They also demanded for immediately posting out of Deputy Commissioner Chitral Muhammad Shuaib Jadoon for his proudest behavior toward the people of Chitral. Thousands of people participated in set in as protest against government departments. those who spoke on the occasion were Rahmat Salam Lal, Ghulam Muhayuddin, Abdul Rehman, Meraj Hussain, Abdul Samad, Saifullah, Mukhtar Ahmad, Maulana Kifayatullah, Sardar Hakeem, Shah Jang Azeem, Qazi Jamaluddin, Shah Ahmad Hussain, Hussain Zareen, Parvez Ahmad Lal and Retired Manager Sarfaraz Ali. People belongs to Mastuj, Booni, Torkho, Mulko, Chwench etc participated in set in protest there was also complete shutter down strike and Booni Bazar was closed completely.
