Borrás Death Delays Call-Up

The death of Spanish national team doctor Genaro Borrás delayed coach Luis Aragonés from divulging the list of 23 players that will be taking part in the upcoming Euro 2008. The federation will hold their presser on Saturday instead of Friday in order for players, coaches and team officials to attend a mass that will be held in his memory tomorrow in the city of Vigo. According to sources, the family will cremate his body. Borrás, 62, was in charge of the national since 1991 and took care of various players from Emilio Butragueño to Raúl in these past 17 years. He was also the official team doctor of Celta Vigo for well over a quarter of a century. During this time he was considered an authority in sports medicine, traumatology, as well as one of the top orthopedic surgeons in all of Spain. He was diagnosed with cancer last December and eventually had to close his practice in Vigo order to focus on his rehabilitation. Despite all of this adversity he still took care of the national team although he did not travel with the team in their last two friendlies.
