Richard Boucher, United State Assistant Secretary for Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, on his two days official visit to Nepal today (February 12) met the ex- prime minister and leader of the opposition party Girija Prasad Koirala at his residence at Maharajgunj and later discussed on US assistance placement for the Nepali products in the US market with the current Finance minister Baburam Bhattarai at Singhadurbar separately this morning.
According to source, Boucher expressed his fear in the increasing intervention of the Maoists in the judiciary and over the serial attacks in press claiming it to be a threat to democracy. Likewise he also expressed his queries over the industrial security.
Likewise, Boucher is also scheduled to meet President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and General Rukmangad Katawal, Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) today in the afternoon.
Following a press conference at the US Embassy Boucher is scheduled to leave for New-Delhi, today itself.
