Mirland Baptiste’s four-year-old son died when she accidentally left him in her scorching hot SUV on Saturday as she prepared for her wedding day.
Ruining what should have been a day of celebration and joy, Mirland Baptiste said she didn’t know her son was in her Ford Expedition as she spent three hours getting her nails done in preparation for her wedding day. When she returned to the vehicle with a friend, they found the boy they left in the car to be dead.
The wedding was cancelled in lieu of the day’s tragic events. Mirland Baptiste’s son’s death is not uncommon. Thirty six infants and children die from being trapped in cars each year said Janette Fennell, founder and president of Kids and Cars, a nonprofit child vehicle safety group. There have not been any charges filed against Mirland Baptiste for the accidental death of her son.
