Two boys, ages 11 and 14, have been accused of holding up a Dollar General store in Leavenworth, Kansas.
They had walked into the store with an unloaded purple water gun hidden beneath black electrical tape and demanded cash.
The clerk struggled with the 14 year old, as the younger boy stole money from the cash register.
They then ran off but police officers caught them before they could get far.
No one was injured in the event.
"It’s very troubling that a kid that is 11 years old can formulate the thought in their mind to do something like this," police Major Pat Kitchens said.
The boys are being retained in a juvenile detention center and according to Kitchens, the crime won’t be considered less serious even though the gun wasn’t real.
"The crime is dictated by the behavior of the suspects in this instance."
It’s really not that far-fetched for kids to think up something like this since store robberies are shown in many movies.
They were lucky the store clerk didn’t have a gun.
