When things go wrong for several big clubs, change the coach. It seems to be a necessary evil for a club with so much complex management.
Enter Daniel Brailovsky.
The former Argentine and Israeli international is familiar with what this club is all about. He was a fundamental part of this squad during their glorious years in the 1980’s. The current ESPN analyst signed a contract that will see him in Coapa for the remainder of this tournament and all of 2008.
"I would like to thank Luis Fernando Tena for keeping this team together as well as other positive things he did (during his time in Coapa). I promise that this team will be a very offense and tough team."
During Tena’s tenure as coach, they ended up in the semifinals and were able to win the Clausura title back in 2005. In the previous Apertura tournament they reached the finals after getting past Chivas but came up short to eventual champs Pachuca.
This season was not very favorable for Las Águilas and are currently in 12th place in the overall standings. If there was a positive it was that they did make it to the quarterfinals of the Copa Sudamericana barely getting past none other than Pachuca.
Tena was one of two coaches that left the this past weekend as Nery Pumpido stepped down as Veracruz coach.
