Bravery of students & teachers who attended schools in Kashmir an appreciative step: Minister

Srinagar, September 27 (Scoop News) -Expressing satisfaction over the opening of educational institutions across Kashmir Valley today, Minister for Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayed has said that in all 80% students have attended their schools in rural areas today whereas urban centres have recorded 30 to 40% attendance. In Srinagar he said 28% students resumed their learning activities in different government and private educational institutions.

Terming the opening of schools as a good beginning in right direction, the Minister called for avoiding politicking on the issue. “ We cannot afford to derive any political gains on opening of schools and resuming academic activities as the issue concerns career of lakhs of students, whose future has to be safeguarded by one and all”, he said and added that it was the consensus opinion of all to ensure that students’ career is protected.

The Minister said that the education department will strictly maintain education calendar from 30th September till mid of December in which 11 lakh students will appear in examinations so that their academic year is not wasted at any cost. He appreciated the bravery of students and teachers who attended today which has been noted by education department and their appreciation will be recorded for their best carrier.

He called for utilizing morning assembly time as well as recess break for compensating academic loss so that students are prepared for the examinations the schedule of which has been already announced. These exams, he said are scheduled to begin from September 30 this year.

Peerzada appreciated forthcoming parents and teachers whose dedication has helped to open the schools today bringing good prospects for all the stake holders in education sector.

The Minister asked private schools to operate their vehicle fleets freely while assuring full support from the government in this regard. He said Government has already put in place an efficient transport arrangement for ferrying students as well as teaching staff from their respective residence to educational institutions and back.

Giving break-up of the percentage of different districts, the Minister said Anantnag, Baramulla and Kulgam districts have registered 75% attendance, Kupwara 73 %, Shopian 53%, Bandipora and Ganderbal 50%, Pulwama 20%. Budgam 30% and Srinagar 28%.

The School Education Minister, Peerzada Mohammad Sayed has reiterated determination of government to keep the schools functional and appealed those who are against education not to harm anyone who is in favour of continuance of education.

The case s of harassment by stone palters at Chatabal Government High School, Soura, Newtheed, Nowshera, Nowhatta, Middle School, Gori Masjid Saidakadal, Rainawari and Bagwanpora was also resisted by the parents, locals as well as students. It was with the help of locals that no harm was allowed to cause to school building.
