One couple from Brazil, IT professional Julio and his bride Adriana married in one of the temples of Orissa. The marriage was formalized at the Nrusingnath temple as per the Hindu rituals. The temple is situated at a distance of 500 kilometer from Bhubaneswar in Gandhamardhan hills of Bargarh district.
The couple arrived in India on 6th of March only with the intention of getting married. They took a train from Bhubaneswar and reached Sambalpur. From there they hired a taxi to reach the temple, which is more than half a century old. The Christian couple is from San Paulo and both are twenty five years of age.
Both were given a new name by the Hindu priest Acharya Rajendra, who performed the marriage ritual with great care. The groom was christened as “Ramakrishna” and the bride as “Sharda”.
Adriana is a disciple of Yoga guru Atma Tawtananda Saraswati of Rishikesh and attended to his discourses during the latter’s visit to Brazil. For her, it was a well thought out plan for marriage. For some time, she saw a cat helping her out of problems in tough time while she dreamt. She told her Yoga guru about the recurring sights of a cat in her dreams and she was advised to visit this temple of Nrusinghanth, where god is cat faced, known to all as “Marjara Kesari”. In this incarnation, god had killed the mouse demon (musika daitya). Adriana browsed the details of this historical temple from internet and shared the details with Julio and both flew to India to get married in the temple. Her guru helped through his relatives in arranging things for the marriage. Even a local person acted as the bride’s father and did the “Kanyadaan” meaning giving the daughter in marriage as her father.
