As an Arizonan-in-political-exile, it was interesting to read today that apparently upon Barack Obama’s arrival in Phoenix, Arizona – my former stomping grounds and home for over 45 years – he got into an in- your- face discussion with Arizona’s current governor, Jan Brewer.
Seems to me that this little exchange once again was another of those performances for the media, and not any true confrontation of note that would even begin to address the problems that have and continue to face Arizona, and which have escalated over the last, oh, say forty years or so there.
Ms. Brewer is attempting to explain away the exchange as having to do something with a book she wrote (and just where did she get the time, might I ask, as governor) with Mr. Obama’s reaction to her tell all (or none) recent foray into political literature.
Even being intimidated by the exchange…
Intimidated?
First of all, since Mr. Obama has not even begun to address the immigration situation and open borders which have continued to plague Arizonans for literally decades, and fights at every turn for the rights of foreigners at the expense of Americans, I find Ms. Brewer’s comments a little insulting to Arizonans.
She is being sued supposedly by the Justice Department over Arizona’s passage of SB1070 – the bill that really has nothing to do with illegal immigration and the open borders, but much to do with politics.
SB1070 simply addresses the symptoms, and not the problem in any constructive manner whatsoever. But looks good to the outraged Arizonans on "political" paper.
She is playing the part of victim. And so is Mr. Obama over her "expose."
I hope some governor of Arizona eventually does get to doing the job that needs to be done there, in order to truly "serve and protect" their constituents – the Arizonans living there.
Like directing the legislature, per the Constitution, to actually bring and initiate the lawsuit needed in order to get the required fencing done to protect America’s and Arizona’s borders from foreign invasion.
Under that "forgotten" Secure Fence Act, while recently additional sums were instead provided in order to continue to secure Iraq’s.
Or even under those also "forgotten" common defense provisions of the Constitution.
But I guess playing victim plays better for those cameras.
I wonder where they dined after that photo op?
And I wonder how many Arizonans actually still live in Arizona, or at this point have joined the exodus the past twenty years?
I’ve met quite a few these last few years during mine, and sure there are literally tens of thousands more – or those winter visitors that eventually find out that living in 120 degrees several months out of the year doesn’t do anything really for their golf games, and the tensions there and escalating costs of living due to those open borders are simply not worth it.
Heard the housing market has reached its lowest level in the last quarter century. Especially in the hard hit "sun belt" states.
I wonder why?
