Hassanabad bridge constructed on self help basis.

CHITRAL: More than 500 people belonging to Sosom, Karimabad valley and Hassanabad village came out with their pawl and started construction work of Hassanabad Bridge on self help basis. The bridge had damaged in 2010 during tremendous flood which was replaced by a wooden bridge with 1.2 million but due to heavy traffic it was damaged in its center and vehicles were passing through river instead of bridge because of having big ditches in its middle.
Talking to this scribe former district Naib Nazim Sultan Shah said that we time and again approached to our elected representatives MNA, MPAs and visited offices of concern departments but they paid no attention on this issue. He said that after disappointment from our MPs we determined to construct this bridge on self help basis and collected donations from some NGO to purchase wooden piece for bridge.
Hundreds of people came from Karimabad, Sosom valley and Hassanabad village and participated in construction of bridge on volunteer basis. They completed basic work of the bridge and will put wooden piece next day.
They repair not only this bridge but also link road on both sides of the bridge as well as maintenance of Karimabad and Sosom valley road also completed in one day.
A local contractor told this scribe that it would take cost some 2 million if construct by communication and works or other government department. Local people said that passenger vehicles were crossing the river because the bridge was damaged and so dangerous but it was impossible for serious patients to cross river in vehicle and on this road.
Muahammad Ali a local social worker said that residents of the area were badly frustrate from their elected representatives and that is why people of the area start construction work of the bridge and road on self help basis as a protest to register their protest with a very unique way.
Residents of the area demanded from Premier of Pakistan and Chief Minister KP for allocation of special fund from their discretionary budget for construction of Sosom road and this Hassanabad bridge.
