Bryant & Stratton College Online announced today that it will be hosting a webinar at no cost for current Bryant & Stratton College students, prospective students and anyone else interested in understanding how to find jobs on LinkedIn and increase their profile’s visibility to potential employers. The free webinar, titled “Building Your Career Opportunities on LinkedIn,” will take place on Wednesday, August 17, from noon to 1:00 p.m. EDT.
Kim Dority of Dority & Associates, Inc. will lead the webinar. Ms. Dority is a career coach who has been writing about and teaching courses on career development for more than a decade. She has also spoken at numerous national professional conferences on this topic.
“LinkedIn has more than 100 million members making it the premier social networking site for building and maintaining career visibility and credibility. It can be an especially valuable tool for students looking to jumpstart their careers while still in college because of its potential to build a professional brand and make professional connections,” said Dority.
“Build Your Career Opportunities on LinkedIn,” will provide tips on how to best use the professional networking as a student or as an individual looking to switch careers. Attendees will gain a better understanding of how to build a compelling profile, use unique features and tools to apply for posted jobs, and create a long-term strategy for building a professional network.
The career education webinar is the second social media focused event that Bryant & Stratton College Online will host in August. The first webinar, titled “Social Media Do’s and Don’ts,” was held in early August and highlighted how other social networking sites, like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, can help or harm an individual’s career. Points included tips on developing a social media strategy that positions being a student as a benefit instead of a drawback, using social media to build a career platform from which to launch job-hunting efforts, and which sites will deliver the greatest connection benefits. The webinar also provided examples of the kinds of career-damaging online activities that can spell job-hunting disaster now and for years to come. Those interested in reading the top tips from the webinar can do so at the Bryant & Stratton College Online blog.
The webinar is offered for free by Bryant & Stratton College Online and is open to current students, prospective students and others seeking information on how social media can help their job search and improve their career opportunities. Those interested in attending are invited to register at http://online.bryantstratton.edu/webinar/.
“LinkedIn is a powerful, but sometimes underutilized tool for job seekers. Even students who have grown-up in the social media era often lack the knowledge about all of LinkedIn’s capabilities,” said Scott Traylor, Associate Campus Director for Online Education at Bryant & Stratton College. “This webinar is designed to give job seekers the tools and knowledge they need to advance their job search and take another step to achieving their professional dreams. We are thrilled that Ms. Dority has agreed to lend her expertise for free to this effort.”
Everyone who attends one of the social media webinars offered by Bryant & Stratton College Online will be able to download a hand-out recapping the webinar and the top tips they can deploy to pave the path for career success.
