Leh, November 15 (Scoop News)- Acting on the persistent and personal intervention of the CEC, LAHDC Leh Rigzin Spalbar with regard to frequent interruptions and erratic networks of telecom services in Leh and resultant public outcry, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Govt. of India has initiative certain corrective measures.
The decision to this effect has been communicated to the CEC LAHDC Leh by Tripti Saxena, GM (NOW-CM) the Corporate Office BSNL New Delhi in which it has been told that for mobile services Leh mobile equipment and MSS has been now connected Trikuta through satellite which will keep mobile services including SMS operational in Leh area even during OFC disturbances.
Similarly, for broadband service 17 new DSLAM have been planned in year 2012-13 in Leh area after which 2000 new broadband connections may be provided in the region. For public access to broadband facility 11 number of broadband public kiosk and WIMAX services are planned for Leh which will provide high speed broadband to remote areas. Related to public call office 113 number of PCO over satellite has been planned for Leh during 2012-13 to provide telecom connectivity to villages surrounded by mountains and other natural barriers where otherwise connectivity is not possible.
As far as long distance call is concerned alternate media route to Leh via Gurez, Kargil has been examined and connectivity over satellite has been planned to enhance the performance even during OFC problem.
