Orchard Park New York. On Friday the Buffalo Bills signed veteran quarterback Kyle Orton, 31, to a one year contract. Orton will serve as the backup quarterback to second year Bills starting quarterback EJ Manuel.
The Bills made a roster move on Saturday releasing second year quarterback Jeff Tuel, 23. The Bills have decided to have Orton and Manuel on their 53 man roster when the Bills open the 2014 National Football League season at Soldier Field in Chicago on Sunday September 7 when the Chicago Bears will be the opposing team of the Bills.
Orton started his career in the National Football League in 2005 with the Chicago Bears. Orton is a nine year veteran of the league. The benefit of Orton being the backup quarterback to Manuel who is in second year in the league is that Orton will be able to share his knowledge of the game of professional football to Manuel.
In a perfect world of sports, the Bills would be wise to start Orton this football season since he has more experience playing in the National Football League than Manuel does.
The Bills management has decided to give Manuel a chance to lead the Bills football team in 2014. The Bills are hoping that Manuel is able to remain healthy this football season.
At least the Bills have a veteran quarterback ready in case Manuel suffers an injury or is unable to perform his duties as the leader of the Bills football franchise during the 2014 regular football season.
