It would look as if United States President George W. Bush is looking forward to a world where current Cuban leader Fidel Castro doesn’t exist. This would look as if George W. Bush wants this so badly he can taste it according to the statement of maintaining the trade embargo with Cuba. George W. Bush had also urged greater international participation to promote Cuban democracy.
Cuba in the present day has been denounced by George W. Bush as a “tropical gulag.” However, the Cuban government has rejected Bush’s appeal. In addition, George W. Bush is accused by the Cuban government for trying to promote violence in hopes of bringing a change to the regime. This is George W. Bush’s major address in regards to Cuba in four years.
In a speech at the US State Department, George W. Bush said that the country will maintain the embargo on Cuba as long as the leadership maintains a monopoly on the politics and economics of the people. He stated that the citizens of Cuba have no freedom of employment or expression. Bush added that they live in circumstances fearing beatings.
He’s called forth to support democratic movements in Cuba.
George W. Bush states: “Now is the time to stand with the Cuban people as they stand up for their liberty. And now is the time for the world to put aside its differences and prepare for Cubans’ transitions to a future of freedom and progress and promise.”
Cuba’s Foreign Minister, Felipe Perez Roque fired back at Bush accusing him of promoting force for political change. He said that it’s a confirmation of Bush’s Administration of trying to change Cuba with force.
