The ultimatum comes after the release of a US intelligence assessment released on Monday stating that the Iran had halted the weapons program back in 2003. However, President George W. Bush had not changed his opinion and deemed the country of Iran still a threat.
At the same time, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the President of Iran said that the new report released on Monday is a great victory for the country of Iran.
Bush said that Iran has not acknowledged that it had a convert program that ran until 2003. But the report adds that Iran is still keeping its options open such as uranium enrichment. It could still be used for nuclear weapons in the future.
He said that Iran has a strategic choice to make. Bush says that Iran can come clean to the world about the scope of their nuclear activities and accept the offer to suspend their enrichment program.
If not, they can continue the path of isolation which is not in the best interest of Iran.
According to analysts, the report could undermine the strategy of trying to rally other countries to impose stricter sanctions against Iran.
He said that he believes that other countries such as Britain and France see that Iran’s program as a problem.
