Jammu, January 07, (Scoop News)- The Cabinet Sub-Committee on Creation of New Administrative Units headed by Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand today visited Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban and interacted with representatives of different political parties, sarpanches and civil society members to get their suggestions and proposals with regard to the creation of New Administrative Units.
Members of the Committee included Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma; Minister for Agriculture, G.H. Mir; Minister for Higher Education, Mohammad Akbar Lone; Minister for Planning & Development, Ajay Sadhotra.
Secretary, Revenue, Vinod Koul accompanied the Sub Committee during its visit.
At Doda the Sub Committee held meeting with political representatives and members of civil society in which legislators G.M. Saroori, Khalid Najib Sohrawardy and Shyam Lal Bhagat and DDC Doda Mubarak Singh were present.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister said that Government has created Cabinet Sub-Committee to examine the case for implementation of the Delimitation Commission report and said that the committee will examine and consider the demands and proposals of the people for the establishment of New Administrative Units in the State. He invited suggestions from the political representatives, sarpanches and civil society members so that delimitation as per the aspirations of the people is made.
Various political party representatives including Congress, National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party, Bhartiya Janta Party, etc, besides Sarpanches, Civil Society and Bar Association Members spoke on the occasion and presented their demands and suggestions which include creation of Tehsils, Blocks, subdivisions, Niabats, Girdawar Halqas, Patwar halqas etc.
The Sub-Committee gave a patient hearing and assured the people that the matter will be discussed and taken into consideration.
MLA Inderwal G.M Saroori and MLC Khalid Najib Sohrawardy also spoke on the occasion and demanded creation of Chenab Valley Hill Development Council for the entire erstwhile District Doda. They also endorsed the demands and proposals submitted by various delegations and urged upon the Government to give due consideration to the erstwhile District Doda while creating New Administrative Units in the region keeping in view the topography and population.
At Kishtwar, the committee held deliberations with the representatives of Congress, BJP, NC, PDP, BSP, NCP and other parties who projected their demands regarding creation of new administrative units in the area. They demanded creation of new tehsils, Niabats and rural development blocks in the areas of Padder, Nagseni, Palmar, Bunjwah, Kuntwara, Chatroo and Sarthal.
Different participants supported their claims through historical, political cultural and other economic aspects. They were of the view that these new units will address the problem of backwardness, economic disparities and usher in a new beginning of development in the region.
MLA Inderwal, G M Saroori; DC Kishtwar, Baseer Ahmed Khan, SP Mr Sanjay Kotwal and other officers and prominent citizens participated in the meeting.
The committee gave patient hearing to all the demands and concerns of people. Assuring full cooperation on the issue, Tara Chand said that comprehensive criteria based on all aspects will be applied in creation of new units and all the aspirations of people will be taken care of. He also said that the committee will ensure full justice with all the regions in creation of new administrative units.
Later, the committee visited Ramban and held similar meetings there. 15 deputations from different parts of the district met the Sub Committee and apprised it about the necessity of creating new Administrative Units in different parts of the district.
Various deputations of Banihal area called on the committee under the leadership of Minister of State for Technical Education, Vikar Rasool Wani and put forth their demands before the committee.
MLA, Ashok Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, M. H. Malik, DIG, Doda- Ramban- Kistwar Range, Ashkoor Wani; SP Ramban, Javeed Matoo and other officers of District administration were present on the occasion.
