In an attempt to revive the economy back home, U.S. firms are shifting call center jobs back home from India.
AGL Resources Inc. based in Atlanta is one of these companies. Its operations were run by Wipro, India’s third biggest IT services firm.
Other companies enacting similar policies include United Airlines, Delta Airlines, and Chrysler. Analysts are saying this could mean a hurdle ahead for bpo firms in India. Net revenue for bpo firms in India was close to $15 billion for the year up to March.
The bailouts by the U.S. government are prompting companies to create jobs back home. Along with this, there are also regulatons that require call centers to be within the locality in which they serve.
“Given the current state of the US economy, now is the right time to invest in our country and create new jobs,” said Hank Linginfelter, Executive VPof utility operations, at AGL Resources in an online report by
