More and more government officials are being trapped by this recently launched anti-corruption campaign in cameroon.
After Polycarp Abah Abah former Minister of Finance, Urbain Olangeuna Awon, former Public Health Minister, were arrested on grounds of embezzlement, it is now the turn of Jean Marie Atangana Mebara, former Minister of External Relations. He was summoned last friday by the judicial police for questioning, on grounds of allegedly embezzling state funds.
He is accused of misappropriating funds destined for the acquisition of a new presidential plane. After over ten hours at the police station he was released but appeared today again to answer more questions.
Reports say several other state officials have been listed as targets of this operation.
We hope it is going to have the desired effect on the cameroonian economy.
