For the past one week in our town, needless here to mention the name of the town, but it is in Tamil Nadu, colourful cut-outs of a personality has been exhibited in every nook and corner of the town, commomorating the third anniversary of his death, eulogising him as anything like Indiran or Chandiran. The cut-outs have been dressed with different heroes and styles in Tamil Nadu.
The moot question that lies before us is, does he deserve it ?
The person exhibited in the cut -out is no doubt a handsome personality, muzzles toned down in his own gym.But who was he ?He was a goonda, engaged in ‘kattapanchayat’through his muzzlemen, fetching the victims at his will through his muzzlemen, rendered justice, sorry, his pronouncements according to his whims and fancies, proportionate to the sum offerred to him and in the end having the lions’share, doling out something to his muzzlemen and offering a very neglible amount to the complainant. The methods he employed were goondaism, violence, force, assult, manhandling, hijacking and even murders etc.Time and again he was booked by the police and the courts let him off with minor punishments, thanks to the tireless support that he enjoyed from lawyers who practiced on the criminal side. When the above said person was awarded with some rigourous imprisonment say for 3 years,by a fearless judge, the car in which the judge was travelling was attacked and the judge himself escaped narrowly.Again he was booked and with the munificence of our lawyers he went scotfree.
Alas! he was murdered by one of his own aides. He died intestate leaving atleast four wives and a scores of children. All of them out of their gratitude remember the death of their godfather!Only in the largest democracy like India, such notoriuos things can happen.Jindabad to Indian democracy.
Can we encourage such tendencies in a democracy ?If we allow such tendencies, then can we celeberate the blemishless real celebrities ?Only the time will tell whether such forces be encouraged.
