Jammu & Kashmir: Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department aimed at providing essential commodities to common masses at prescribed rates has failed miserably to perform its ensured task for being in a state of coma. Aam Adami has no place to complaint against loot and no one is there out to take moral responsibility of doing job honestly despite getting handsome salary every month. From minister to night chowkidar post hundreds of employees have been engaged to deliver but every person has problem with the behavior of working force especially to those in inspection wing.
“I was shocked when I saw a kilogram of green leaves (Saag) was sold from Rs 5 to Rs 25 per KG by vendors at their will” said Jai Singh adding that isn’t there any rule of law for these vendors? He said that if meat and chicken could have prescribed rates in Valley why not in Jammu. Even why not for fish and cheese and for vegetables and fruits, he enquired? But all in-vain, as nobody is ready to listen and understand the truth because of compulsion of booty system.
When contacted minister for CAPD, Chowdary Ramzan regarding food grain supply to a particular area in Kishtwar area, he instead of taking cognizance of information provided to him insisted upon accurate place with accurate identification of officer concerned for taking him to task, as if a reporter was about to settle personnel score with officials and above all as if reporters are informers of the ministers and higher officers. In a similar manner when a former director was informed about malpractices and over charging by some shopkeepers, he instead of taking action asked for written complaints, as if reporter was on the pay roll of CAPD officer.
People are on the streets and roads in Jammu city for want of ration, kerosene and cooking gas but concerned authorities are unmoved due to state of coma said a social worker from New Plots, who had protested for several days together but of no results. He alleged that militants in uphills of Kistwar range could get food grains and kerosene and cooking gas from DAPD but tax payers here are pushed to wall despite ready to pay over charges. Director Ghandrab Singh Chib was busy on cell phone so could not be contacted for his valued comments over the serious issues pertaining to common masses. In such bizarre circumstances it the God who only has taken the affairs under his control for each and every common poor person.
