Leh, March 20 (Scoop News) -In order to spread awareness among the masses about the public grievances on the theme “Jago Gharak Jago” Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Leh organized awareness rally in the Leh.
Holding banners in their hands students from different school participated in the rally which started from Girls Higher secondary school Campus via main Bazaar to culminate at Leh Auditorium Hall.
The Chief Executive Councilor Rigzin Spalbar whowas chief guest on the occasion speaking on the occasion applauded the CA&PD for organizing the awareness rally after the gap of seven years, Spalbar advocated upon the students to spread awareness amongst general public so that consumer would know about their right while buying anything. He instructed CAPD Department to organize such awareness camps at Block levels too with the support of Information department for mass awareness of the Consumer Act and rights so that innocent people living in far flung areas of Ladakh could be educated about their rights.
Mentioning about the Council’s efforts in last two years for streamlining the public distribution system in entire Leh distt, Spalbar expressed happiness over the functioning of CAPD Deptt. Leh saying that with the dedicated hard work of storekeepers, today there is hardly any complaint about supply of rations in Leh distt.
Referring Consumers as God, the Executive Councilor for CA&PD Ghulam Abass Abadi said that to protect the consumer’s right, the Consumer Act 489 under J&K SRO 1980 was introduced wherein it was specifically mention to display the Company name on product, Prize tag, Brand etc. Said Abidi.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Tsering Morup, CA&PD Assistant Director Sherab Gyaltsan also spoke on the occasion advising the consumer to be alert while purchasing any product or availing any consumer related services.
