Penn State 19 LSU 17
The field was a muddy mess as Penn State and LSU kicked off the Capital One Bowl today in Orlando Florida.
When it was all over Penn State came out victorious with a 19-17 win.
Penn State coach Joe Paterno won his 24th bowl game and LSU coach Les Miles lost for the first time in five bowl appearances.
The late field goal came with 57 seconds left and field goal kicker Collin Wagner had no problems from 21 yards out.
LSU had one more shot at the end of the game but a costly penalty with seconds to go left them short of a field goal attempt and the game ended with a completion and fumble.
QB Daryll Clark gave Penn State a solid game going 18 of 35 pass completions for 216 yards and one TD.
LSU receiver Brandon LaFell was highly critical of the field conditions even in light of the fact that there was a driving rain storm before the game, "That was by far the worst field conditions I have ever seen in my life. For them to say that this is the best bowl game outside of the BCS, I would expect to play on the best field outside the BCS." Footing was bad I agree for BOTH teams.
