Iraq – Hamza: On Thursday a car bomb blast near a livestock market in Iraq kills at least 10 people and dozens wounded. In Hamza market near the city of Hilla in Babil province, a car bomb exploded as people were buying and selling cattle.
The police said the attack on the crowded cattle market happened at around 0900 local time (0600 GMT) at least 32 people were reported to have been injured.
In recent weeks Iraq has been hit by a series of attacks. Almost every day there is an attack somewhere in the country although the level of violence is still much lower. The US military handed over control of security in the province to Iraqi forces last October.
In another incident take apart in the capital Baghdad, a gunmen shot at an interior ministry general, Salaam Salman, critically wounding him and two bodyguards.
