A Stamford, Connecticut resident’s dinner was interrupted when a vehicle came crashing into the side of his apartment building. The owner of the vehicle reported that he was playing with his remote car-starter when suddenly his car came alive and began accelerating in reverse. The owner could do nothing as his car jumped a small speed bump then continued over the ledge of his elevated parking lot. The vehicle then fell on top of a chain link fence separating two properties. The metal fence however could not support the car’s weight and bent backwards causing the small Toyota to then make come crashing into his neighbors building. The Toyota then became stuck against the building while still resting on top of the fence in mid-air.
The owner was fortunate that the fence was there as without it the vehicle might’ve landed vertically and been almost impossible to get out without causing serious damage to it. Stamford Police arrived and surveyed the puzzling scene and called for a tow truck. A tow truck arrived and the tow truck operator had to call back up in order to lift the Toyota from its precarious position. With the help of two tow trucks the vehicle was able to be harnessed by a back wheel and winched in front. The vehicle seemed to suffer minor damage but appeared to be drivable. The owner had his car back but his wallet was $350 lighter after the towing fee.
