HYDERABAD: Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retd) Abdul Qadir Halepoto has said though conducting the general elections in a free, fair and transparent manner is the prime duty of the caretaker government, it does not mean that someone is free to disturb peace and violate the rule of law. He said this while addressing a reception organised by Nazim UC Tando Fazul Ghulam Abbas Uner in village Haji Imam Ali Uner on Wednesday evening, according to an official handout issued by the Information Department. Addressing the gathering, he said today there was a caretaker government in power that neither had affiliation with any political group nor had to face any opposition because by virtue of its job it was impartial and fair to each individual and organisation.
He advised the people to fully participate in upcoming elections with maximum turnout and assured them that law and order during the process of elections and on the polling day would be maintained at all costs. Referring to the demands presented by the Nazim UC Tando Fazul, the chief minister said the government was undertaking serious efforts for providing basic facilities to its citizens but it was also the responsibility of profit-earning organisations to spare some money for community development in their respective areas. He said it sad to note that the management of the Tando Alam Oil Field was availing the facility of Sui gas but the people of the area were deprived of this facility. He said he would approach the concerned ministry to know the actual position for the utilisation of the community welfare funds, especially recovered from the Tando Alam Field, and would try to utilise it in the interest of the local residents. On public welfare schemes, Halepoto asked the UC Nazim to get his all demands of public schemes documented and submit the same with feasibility reports within the shortest-possible time so that these could be approved and implemented in the interest of the common man.
Earlier, the caretaker Sindh Minister for Forest & Wildlife Ghulam Rasool Uner said it was an injustice with the people of UC Tando Fazul that its inhabitants still lacked basic facilities despite paying huge taxes. He said this UC was rich and producing agriculture output more than other UCs of the district. He said lack of communication network, Sui gas facility and unemployment were the main problems of this UC. He said being a part of the caretaker government, he had no designs to favour any candidate.
Uner said impartiality was his duty entrusted by the president of Pakistan that must be maintained at all costs. Besides, he also assured that departmental decisions would be taken on the basis of merit. The host Nazim, UC Tando Fazul, Ghulam Abbas Uner, said the Taluka Hyderabad among all the Talukas of the district and the Union Council Tando Fazul among all the union councils of the Taluka Hyderabad was the most backward due to lack of basic facilities.
