I doubt that the Olympics in Brazil would be the worst EVER. But these sporting events surely would be the most dishonest and politically biased campaign over the whole sporting history. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), whose current task is not really the fight against doping in general, but the search for more sophisticated methodologies for the use of substances, prohibited in sports, in order to make the distribution of medals more politically orientated, developed a real doping ‘bomb’ after many years of its work. In close cooperation with coaches and National Olympic Committees of the USA, Canada and Great Britain, it has been developed a reliable technique, which efficiently improves the performance of athletes, and formally is not inconsistent with existing rules and regulations, including the list of WADA prohibited substances, but which brings much larger effect than ordinary doping in sports.
What is meant here is the use of the gene therapy method, based on administering genetic material to cells by using a specific molecule of nucleic acid. And if just a while ago in the scientific literature it was written about the testing of such technologies on animals, whose physical performance, as a result, was greatly improved, then now tests have been conducted on people, many of whom are athletes and do not even suspect that they have become some part of such experiment. Injectable insulin-like growth factor 1 (the IGF-1) gene builds up athletes’ physique by 30% faster, and it continues to be ‘young’ for all factors quite a long time, withstanding a heavy load, as well as, disengaging a much smaller amount of lactic acid. But the most important thing is that the implanted gene produces a protein that is indistinguishable during ordinary testing from the one, which is biologically produced in the body of athletes as a result of intensive training. It can be identified only by such medical test as biopsy (extraction of sample tissues directly from the place of genetic material’s insertion), which in the course of sports competitions is never done.
Meanwhile, during the drug development little attention was given to the study of its effects because of the desire to start using it before the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. There is not much left before the 2016 Summer Olympics, and on open-mindedly looking at near-sports life, a rather strange sequence of events comes to the front. Only a few months before the Olympics, the National Olympic Committee of the USA has suddenly said that athletes are not required to go to the competitions in Brazil if they are afraid of being infected by Zika virus. And the athletes, to whom these Olympic Games are to be a high point in their sports career, begin in rearing to withdraw from their participation there. For instance, the US basketball superstar, LeBron James, as well as, the NBA MVP (Most Valuable Player) in 2014-2015, Steph Curry, is going to use this summer for rest and restoration to health and strength. The current World Number 1 in the World Golf Ranking, the Australian athlete, Jason Day, and the former World Champion, the Fijian professional golfer, Vijay Singh, as well as, one of the top-ranked golfers of the world, the Northern Irish athlete, Rory McIlroy, do not take part in Rio 2016 either. Ukrainian best tennis player, Alexandr Dolgopolov, is not planning to go to Brazil for the same reason. And that is only some of athletes, who were preparing for the Games for years, but decided not to go there. Furthermore, an urgent closure of Brazil’s anti-doping laboratory for an indefinite term looks rather weird, too.
It seems that someone is trying to hide something from the public. Apparently, the organism of not all athletes has rescheduled this gene therapy positively. And it is not strange at all because foreign genes’ injection into the organism is fraught with serious and unpredictable adverse reactions which can cause diseases, and even dangerous illness, nullifying the whole training process. That is why the gene doping is much more dangerous than any anabolic steroids’ using.
While European and American sports press is involved in discussion of problems of Chinese swimmers, Russian track and field athletes, or anything else, no one pays attention to the fact that for notorious medal standings, or simply speaking, in order to wipe eyes of China and Russia during the Olympic Games, the health of the athletes, whose body fails because of negative drug acting at the genetic level, is at stake. And we should not be surprised. Sports and politics always go hand in hand. And examples of the fact that popular idols have actually achieved their success by highly questionable means abound. The most striking case in point is the US road racing cyclist, Lance Armstrong, who took synthetic testosterone, and the US track and field sprinter, Tyson Gay, who was caught taking anabolic steroids. The US professional wrestler, Kurt Angle, and four-time Olympic gold medal swimmer, Dara Torres, were nailed using of powerful GH (growth hormone).
If events of this nature are silenced from now forth, then in the near future we will be in for Olympic Games between biogenetically modernized athletes, who will show the whole world the real state of science in the USA.
