Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia:-
Webmasters and Bloggers must be responsible. The internet is such a powerful instrument that surfers and users are always tempted to abuse it.
A Malaysian webmaster and blogger, Raja Petra Kamarudin, today agreed to post bail and paid the sum of RM5,000.00 which was donated by his friends and supporters.
He was investigated by the Malaysian Police and remanded for three days on possible charges of sedition.
Raja Petra was charged with posting a seditious article on his Malaysia Today website. The article was titled "Lets send the Altantuya Murderers to hell’. Altantuya was a Mongolian Part-time model whose body was found burnt on a hillock in the state of Selangor. A political analyst who has connection to the powers-that -be in Kuala Lumpur was amongst those on trial and possibly connected to the murder.
The Deputy Prime Minister who is also the Defence Minister , Datuk Najib Razak, denied allegations that the case against Raja Petra was politically motivated. He mentioned that "a line must be drawn to separate the truth from the false"
The Government has also warned website masters and Bloggers that they must be responsible for their writing.
" The internet is not a free-for all arena. Posting lies and dangerous stuff will only agitate its users," a senior minister in the Malaysian cabinet says.
Blogs and Blog-owners were notorious before the 12th General election for their criticism against the National Front government. This was their domain and they really rule it. Their windfall is their victory in five of the Peninsular.
