Jammu, October 4 (Scoop News) –BJP State Chief Spokesperson & National Executive Member Dr. Jitendra Singh has stated that the issue of mysterious death of NC activist Syed Mohammad Yusuf Shah is no longer an internal matter of that party, particularly in the wake of allegations of torture death and the issue also involves another very serious angle of “cash for MLC seat.”
Dr. Jitendra Singh said that in the just concluded National Executive meet of BJP at New Delhi, the party leadership had taken a definite position on the issue of “cash for vote” and reiterated that in such cases the whistle blowers deserve state protection not custody. Applying the same yardstick, Dr. Jitendra Singh said Late Syed Mohd. Yusuf’s startling disclosures that amount as much as nearly 1 crore was exchanging hands to purchase an MLC seat should have been thoroughly probed to arrive at full facts but instead the provider of the crucial information got silenced to death in suspicious circumstances.
While demanding a CBI inquiry into the whole episode to ensure free fair conclusive results, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that there is a widespread public impression in the last few years that the ruling coalition has turned the state Legislative Council into a “Gaushala” for rehabilitation of defeated politicians, rich businessmen and blue eyed boys of the influential politicians and political families. He said the state of Jammu & Kashmir has pionered this “cash for MLC seat” phenomenon and earned the dubious distinction of demolishing the sanctity of Upper House which was envisaged as the House of Elders to accomodate men of merit who could make an intellectual contibution to the functioning of legislature.
Dr. Jitendra Singh also referred to discrimination in the follow up to various cases of custodial killing and said while the state assembly over the last four days witnessed heated exchanges over alleged custodial killing of Syed Mohd. Yusuf Shah, several similar custodial killings were awaiting follow up action in Jammu region and cited the examples of proven custodial death of Rajnesh Sharma. He also called for taking up Justice OP Sharma Commission report indicting top police officers for disrespect shown to Amarnath land agitation martyr Late Kuldeep Verma.
