CBCP saves PGMA from ouster move

The Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines in another statement yesterday (February 26, 2008) declared their full support on the presidency of Mrs. Gloria Arroyo despite of allegations of massive corruption in her government. The CBCP drafted a unanimous vote of support after 12 hours of deliberation in a private meeting held inside their comfort zone.

The civil society groups were dismayed over the CBCP statement of support and promised to continue their protest actions to force PGMA to resign. The CBCP’s unwarranted support to the government was obviously in return to the government’s big donations to the Catholic Church.

The president and her loyal servants expressed sigh of relief after hearing the CBCP statement. They were ultimately saved from being cast to the wilderness of condemnation.
