Don’t start with over-consumption jokes – Booze, Sex, food, whatever. I’ll binge on audio any day. Especially when I am served this fusion of crispy fried chords and efficacious vocals.
With what could easily be Apples’ next iPod ad anthem – “Hear Me Out” gets itself heard in a strange but easily recognizable formula that borrows unintentionally from some punk influenced glam, circa late 80’s: Sea Hags, Love/Hate, Smashed Gladys etc…
Choppy little hooks from guitarist Mayuko Okai (also the sin-twin sister of bassist Tsuzumi Okai) and sultry sleazy slander from vocalist Dylan Squatcho. B-side – “Rock Show” starts off with a taste of The Cult’s Hollow Man” there’s still a good old fashioned Sunset Strip/80’s feel without the contrived look. Grind Glam?
Who gives a fuck Whatever you want to label them as – it’s good, meaty, big and bouncy. So you can choke on these while waiting for the full-length from Sneaky Devil/ Sympathy For The Record Industry(great label name!) later this year. Too bad Vancouver is getting by-passed by The Binges on their current tour.
