CD Review – The Horrors
Strange House
Polydor/UMG
The moment I popped this in, I was taken back to early 80’s
Right off the bat – pure UK-ism throughout, and with a warm and welcoming manner. Not the most original garage rock to emerge from South East London but certainly a refreshing and thirst-quenching relief from the horrors of today’s charts. Influences have seeped in through the cracks and the boat is quickly filling up with The Ramones, The Cramps, Violent Femmes and any other pertinent Garage-goth-punk. With members names that include Spider Webb, Joshua Von Grimm and Coffin Joe We are ready to celebrate Halloween in the summer
The majority of the album is delivered, like a piping hot fresh pop pizza with moody “Moog-monster” toppings. All at no extra charge. A mid-sixties psychedelica feel with an angry post-punk flair we have once again gone back in time, but after hearing this album, maybe we’ll stay there.
Standout Tracks Include:
