CDF funds should not be scraped off without proper considerations
WANJALA B DANSON
The court declared Constituency Development Funds (CDF) to be illegal which sent off many people with a mix of reactions not knowing whether to rejoice or sob. Once I was happy that my MP doesn’t have money to go around pouring to his linked fellows’ pockets.
However, I was certain that the all visible developments in my constitution have been done using the CDF money. From schools, hospitals and water projects in addition to bursaries for pupils and students. This translated into that my constituency is still to feel the impact of county government but seeing only flash cars trespassing in it.
CDF are more felt that the county government itself. In my own opinions CDF money played a big role in developing in most parts of this country and should not be thrown away just anyhow. We should have other Funds with will wear its shoe.
It is said county governments will take over from CDF but statics released by World Bank and what we have seen governors and county assemblies engaging in furious war, misappropriation of funds by governors in collaboration with members of the county assembly lays a poor foundation to diverge CDF funds to them.
