CDV restrict children from playing on frozen waters

Div Com issues directions to DCs

Srinagar, January 13 (Scoop News) – Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon inspected the HPCL LPG plant at Pampore alongwith Baseer Ahmed Khan, Director CAPD Kashmir. He held a meeting with HPCL officials and directed them to ensure rational distribution of LPG throughout the Valley. The meeting was attended by Dy. Director CAPD, Shafqat Iqbal, Asst. Commissioner Revenue, Pulwama, SDPO Pampore, SHO Pampore, Tehsildar Pampore, Sr. Sales Manager HPCL, Haroon Hamid, Plant Manager Farooq Ahmed, OSD with Div Com Aamir Ali and other senior officers of HPCL. Div Com directed that Tehsildar and SHO Pampore would be Nodal Officers at HPCL Plant and would furnish daily reports about the despatch of LPG.

Dr. Samoon is personally monitoring the supplies in the Valley. Meanwhile, 32 oil tankers, 35 LPG tankers, 21 trucks loaded with Chicken, 30 with Sheep, 33 trucks carrying rice of FCI and 40 trucks with vegetables crossed Jawahar Tunnel by 1.00 am during the intervening night of 12th/13th January.

            Div Com has given instructions to all Deputy Commissioners to visit far flung areas of their districts in order to redress the grievances of the public and constitute market checking squads to prevent hoarding. A squad headed by Additional Commissioner Kashmir Abdul Majid Mir also conducted market checking in Parimpora Mandi, Maharaj Bazaar, Amira Kadal, and Hari Singh High Street, Srinagar. He also directed DC Srinagar to keep a squad at Panthachowk to monitor the conditions of the Chicken and Sheep being imported into the Valley. Div Com also dfirected Chief Engineer Beacon Brigadier TPS Rawat to visit Shaitani Nalla and ensure removal of road blockades due to avalanches.

He also directed DC Pulwama Shafaat Noor to visit Tral where it had been reported in media, that two pregnant ladies had reportedly died, while on way to the Hospital. ADDC Shopian Samnani visited Sedow, Hirpora, Padpawan, Keller, Zawoora, Narapora, Moshwara, Mastpora, Aro, Saigund, Darmdoora, and other higher reaches of Shopian and interacted with the locals and took stock of the availability of essential commodities. DC Baramulla Bashir Ahmed Khan visited Old Town Baramulla, Khanpora, Sherwani Colony, Khawajabagh and also FCI godown at Kralhar. Market checking squad destroyed rotten vegetables on spot. Deputy Commissioner Kupwara suspended 14 employees of SDH Sogam including 6 doctors.

            Div Com deputed Additional Commissioner Kashmir Abdul Majid Wani, to conducted checking of attendance of various officer including Bone & Joint Hospital, Maternity Hospital Sanat Nagar, Offices of Chief Engineer R&B, PMGSY, Irrigation Flood Control, PHE, MD Forest Corporation, Exen. Electric and Pollution Control Board. 99 employees were found absent including 11 doctors and 4 engineers. Disciplinary action has been initiated.

            On the instructions of Div Com, the Vice Chairman LAWDA, Irfan Yaseen has issued an advisory to the general public not to attempt to walk or skate on frozen water surfaces in the lakes, ponds or rivers, as there is apprehension that the thin ice may break and result in drowning. Today, volunteers of Civil Defence alongwith police personnel visited various areas including Dal Lake, Harwan Sarband, Narbal, River Jehlum and prevented the children from playing on frozen water bodies, they also counselled the children and their parents about its hazards.

            Div Com also gave instructions to the concerned officers to ensure that people living in Shia populated areas are provided adequate facilities in view of Chehlum function of 20th Safar falling on 14th evening and 15th January.
