A celebrated case of hit and run in Sydney, Australia was dismissed by a court after months of deliberations. The case which happened in February 2007 involved an Australian man and a Filipino-Australian woman. The man, who is a taxi driver was accused and sued for traffic infraction or the crime of hit and run. His victim, as alleged, is a young 24 year old Fil-Australian woman who was almost killed by the rampaging car that hit the victim head on.
The young woman had suffered serious injuries all over her body. Her left eye was damaged; her gait was affected because of limbs injuries. Her physical and emotional faculties were severely affected. The young woman was left scarred for life brought by the contumacious attitude of the perpetrator.
The family of the woman cried for justice after hearing the dismissal proceedings. They suspected that biased decision were handed down, knowing for a fact that the involved parties are racially and culturally different. But according to the legal experts who attended the hearing, the case was dismissed due to insufficient evidence presented. Thus, the warrant to indict the suspect was legally quashed as so ordered.
