A new study says that frequent mobile use is indeed damaging to your health, and that cell phone use is an unchecked hazard.
The study, led by Dr.Vini Khurana, goes on to say that prolonged cellular phone use carries far greater risks than smoking. About five million die from smoking-related illness each year.
Khurana told the Independent, "there is a significant and increasing body of evidence for a link between mobile phone usage and certain brain tumors." Adding, "It is anticipated that this danger has far broader public health ramifications than asbestos and smoking." Asbestos is also a carcinogen and is banned in several countries.
The number of mobile phone users is tagged at 3 billion and that number continues to grow, making the ubiquitous cell potentially harmful.
Both France and Germany have put out warnings against frequent cell phone use particularly by young users.
Kharana said in a statement, "We are currently experiencing a reactively unchecked and dangerous situation," pointing out that cell phone use may result in a "life-ending diagnosis" of brain tumors. He urged the government and industry officials take immediate steps to curb mobile use and said that its link to brain tumors will be apparent within the next ten years.
The research included conclusions from more than 100 studies.
