Centre revises ration scale for BPL, AAY: Akhoon

Jammu,October 22 (Scoop News) –    In view of additional allocation made by the Government of India, the scale for BPL/AAY families have been revised w.e.f. 01-11-2011.

As per the revised scale, the BPL category will get 55 kg per family and 55 kg per family will be provided under AAY (35 kg on AAY rates and 20 kg on BPL rates).

 This was disclosed today by Minister for CAPD, Mr. Qamar Ali Akhoon while reviewing the status of availability of ration and other essential commodities in Jammu division in view of ensuing festival season.

The Minister directed the officers for ensuring adequate availability of wheat, rice, sugar, kerosene, LPG and other essential commodities in all parts of Jammu region for the convenience of the people. He also directed the officers of CAPD and Legal Metrology Department to conduct regular inspection in their respective areas for ensuring quality and hygienic availability of food items in the market.

The Minister reviewed in detail the status of availability of ration and other ration commodities in various districts of Jammu region. He asked the concerned officer to ensure timely dispatch of additional 9510 qtls of levy sugar for providing 1 kg additional sugar per ration card on the eve of Diwali Festival. He also directed for ensuring sufficient stocking of wheat, rice, sugar and other essential commodities in hilly areas of the region to meet the requirement of the people in view of snow season.

The Minister informed that government of India has sanctioned additional quota of ration for Kashmiri migrants, Gujjar and Bakerwals, registered Hostels, Orphan House, etc. He asked the officers to identify the registered hostels in Jammu region so that ration supply would be ensured to them.

The Minister directed the officers to ensure timely supply of ration to the people as adequate stock is available in all the sale outlets of the department.  

Among others, Commissioner Secretary Mr. Pardeep Gupta, Director CAPD Mr. Parvez Malik, Assistant Directors CAPD, officers from FCI, Indian Oil Corporation and other concerned departments attended the meeting.
